Cherngtalay · family area
Schools: the biggest question — solved
The island's north-west is the best choice for a family precisely because of the schools. Here are proven options near Bang Tao and Cherngtalay (annual tuition — for 2025/26).
HeadStart Cherngtalay
Right in the area, 4 km from Bang Tao beach. British Cambridge curriculum, ages 2–14. From ฿347K to ฿491K a year — noticeably more affordable than the "big names".
UWC Thailand
~15–20 minutes (Thepkasattri). Full IB cycle (PYP→DP), boarding. ฿497K–904K a year + fees. One of the strongest IB schools in Southeast Asia.
British Int. School (BISP)
~20–25 minutes (Koh Kaew). The island's largest school: Cambridge/IGCSE + IB Diploma, sports academies. ฿470K–936K a year.
Nurseries nearby
Cherngtalay has international nurseries for ages 1.5–7 (British and Scandinavian methods) — morning logistics without an hour in the car.
Kajonkiet (Kathu)
A budget international option in the centre of the island: English curriculum, IGCSE + A-Levels, ~฿248K–396K a year.
We'll help with admissions
We'll explain waiting lists, fees and how schools view children without English. Admissions connections are part of BURO's support.
Grown-up-grade infrastructure
Phuket is long past being an "island without civilisation": international-standard private medicine, supermarkets, sport and everything for life with children.
Bangkok Hospital Phuket
The flagship of the BDMS network with JCI accreditation: cardiology, paediatrics, emergency care. ~25–30 min from Bang Tao. A second JCI hospital — Siriroj — is nearby.
Clinics nearby
Thalang Hospital 10–15 minutes away for basic cases, a BDMS wellness clinic in Laguna, dentists and paediatricians — in the area.
No-compromise daily life
Villa Market and Makro, Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket, restaurants, tennis, Laguna golf, kids' clubs — all within 10 minutes.
Airport 20–25 min away
Direct flights to hubs across Asia and the Middle East. Grandparents can fly in, you can fly out on business — logistics aren't a pain.

What we're asked most often
Villa or condo for a family?
With pre-school kids and a garden, families more often take a villa in a gated community (private pool, yard). Families with schoolchildren often choose a spacious 2–3BR condo near the school: cheaper to maintain, with security and amenities included. We'll show both scenarios for your budget.
How much should I budget for school?
A realistic range for 2025/26 is from ~฿250–350K a year (Kajonkiet, HeadStart Cherngtalay in the lower grades) to ฿900K+ (BISP and UWC in high school), plus enrolment fees. For two children in a "mid-range" international school — roughly ฿700K–1M a year.
How can I live on the island legally?
Popular options: the DTV visa for 5 years for remote workers (฿500K balance requirement), LTR for 10 years for affluent families and professionals, Thailand Privilege (from ฿650K for 5 years), study and business visas. Buying property doesn't grant a visa by itself — but we'll suggest a workable scheme for your situation.
Is it safe with children?
The island's north-west is calm and family-friendly: gated complexes with 24/7 security, low street crime, an international community. The main real risks are traffic (scooters) and the sea during the wave season — choose guarded beaches with flags.
